The main pillar of our body, highway of our central nervous system, and the mobile yet strong adapter: the spine and back take on so much throughout our life and is a common source of pain and/or dysfunction for many. 

For those who suffer from either acute or chronic lower back pain, they know how debilitating it can be. But we also know that not all back pain is the same, both in presentation but also in origin. Movement to assist a disc herniation is very different than that of spinal stenosis or a spondylolisthesis.

As a Physiotherapist, Andrea has specialized training and understanding of all aspects, including the differences and nuances of back injuries and pathologies, as well as in integrative core control exercises (more than planks and bird dogs).

Supported through mindful movement including basic to advanced core retraining, stretching, strengthening and functional movements; and assisted through a variety of dynamic props, modifications and self care tools as needed, participants of this physio rehab series will gain:

  • a sense of the physiology and psychology of pain, spinal biomechanics
  • how to tune in to positive experiences in their body and mind
  • a myriad of self care techniques including breath work, mindful movement and meditation
  • An embodied understanding and ability to integrate important core rehab principles, while having time and proper instruction on how to progressively strengthen while limiting flare ups. 

Recommended Equipment & Alternatives (if joining from home):

  • Yoga mat; Carpet, other exercise mat or towel/ blanket
  • Dining or folding chair - ideally without arms
  • Yoga blocks (2); stack of books, step stool 
  • Yoga Bolster; sturdy pillow, folded towel or blanket
  • Yoga Strap/ Belt; pillow case, waist belt, robe belt
  • 12” inflatable ball (Coregeous); other inflatable ball (small-medium size)
  • Water bottle

Physiotherapist & Yoga Teacher
As a physiotherapist and yoga teacher Andrea loves to blend the science and art of biomechanical diagnosis and holistic therapeutics with movement, energy, and breath. She believes a big part of that is helping people to reconnect with their bodies in a new and individualized way taking into consideration their unique health and movement profile. This allows the body and mind to work together to enhance outcomes, integrating positive change in an easy and holistic manner to improve health, function, and movement, returning to oneness.
